MIGRANTS CRISIS

Ventimiglia – Italy. June 2015. More than 150 migrants from Africa who wish to cross the border between Italy and France are blocked by the French police at the border crossing. The European Commission proposed in late May that 40,000 asylum seekers be relocated from Italy and Greece over two years. The plan foresees the largest groups of asylum seekers going to Germany and France, based on a calculation involving EU countries’ population sizes, unemployment rates, wealth and existing refugee intake rates.
