FINUL – Liban

South Lebanon. May 2008. The French Army plays an important role in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon. The mission of UNIFIL is to maintain peace and stability in the region after the 2006 conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. French soldiers help monitor the ceasefire, support the Lebanese Armed Forces, and ensure that no illegal weapons are present in the area. They also conduct patrols, secure villages, and work with local communities to maintain a safe environment. Through their presence and cooperation with other international forces, the French troops contribute to reducing tensions and protecting civilians in southern Lebanon.
